Abstract
This thesis examines the phenomenon of "globalization" and its impact on securities regulation in the small, open economy of New Zealand. In broad outline, it asks two related questions. First, is globalization the present shock or evolutionary crisis for securities regulation in New Zealand? Second - if so - what is the optimal response? There are two answers. First, globalization is the current evolutionary crisis. Second, the optimal response to globalization is strategic thinking to better inform the policy process.
